LIGHTS, ALL AWRY IN THE SKY. Electro Studios Project Space, St Leonards on Sea-England, UK. 2025

3 days before the 2nd WWW ended, Daniel Hartlaub´s uncle,
Felix Hartlaub (*1913), a draughtsman and writer, boarded a
train and disappeared, leaving behind a short life full of
mysteries and unanswered questions.

The exhibition Lights, All Awry In the Sky brings together the
works of draughtsman and filmmaker Daniel Hartlaub and
musician and filmmaker Keith Rodway.

The center piece of the exhibition will be their latest ongoing
project together, Vanished. The Curious Life and Death of Felix
Hartlaub, presenting live music, animations and drawings.

The parallels to the realities of today’s world seem clear. The
mystery and strangeness which surrounds Felix’s life, and
which is reflected in his work, is due to the uncertain times he
lived in: a world seemingly falling apart.

With their work Daniel and Keith try to lay open these parallels
and it can thus be seen as a warning not to let history repeat
itself.

The exhibition was curated by Katrin Kobberger.
